ARVC

Most of my readers here will know, that I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy a year or so ago. I had the test results yesterday and its confirmed as being Arrythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy.

Yesterday, I was a bit of a mess, but today has dawned, and have given myself a firm kick up the butt, and now its time to get on with life.

I have been referred to another specialist in Bristol, as the local unit don't have the know how about the condition. So least I am getting the best! I have been banned from taking exercise, running up stairs, heavy lifting ... so does this mean I am going to spend the rest of my life sat on my behind. No it ruddy doesn't!! I am taking what the doc said with a pinch of common sense. I am not going to go all out on trying to get fit, but see no reason I can't stroll slowly to do the school run. No heavy lifting means I can't do a fair bit of the housework, but I have good friends, who I am sure will be happy to give me a hand with the heavier side of the work. I can still load the washing machine, though maybe heaving the baskets about is not going to be a good idea. I can load and unload the dishwasher, I can bath the kids, They have a step and as long as I am with them to steady them, they can both get in the bath without me lifting them. I am unsure about the ironing, but could probably do that sat down. Lots I can't do now, but theres still loads I can do. So I have to change my lifestyle a bit, so what? I am still here, it could have been so much worse as diagnosis goes. I am ok...... just about!!

Thank you everyone, who has sent me messages, emails, texts, rung me etc. I really appreciate all of it. Your support means so much :)

Emma, I am sorry you got the diagnoses you were so dreading but I am pleased to read such a positive attitude about it too.

Keep your chin up gal, I know its easier said than done and some days will be harder than others, but I am sure I speak for many of your friends when I say we are all here to support you thru the bad days as and when they happen.

Thinking of you always
Loads a love
