Chesley B "Sully" Sullenberger III , odd name perhaps but this guy deserves a ton of medals after the airplane he was flying suffered a bird strike. despite losing both engines, he managed to glide the Airbus A320 away from the closely packed buildings and land in the Hudson river. Not only that he landed so perfectly that the aircraft floated long enough for alkl the passengers and crew to disembark, then mr Sullenberger, checked and double checked the aircraft to ensure that all persons were safe before he made his own way to safety.
Secondly the crew, the flight attendants who kept calm and professional, ensuring a swift and safe evacuation of the aircraft. All the training in the world, can not help when actually faced with every flyers worst nightmare.
Thirdly the passengers, who kept their heads and obeyed the direction of the flight crew.
And not to forget the ferry boat captains and the plethora of small boats who sailed swiftly to the rescue, picking up the passengers from the wings and inflatables where they waited.
Not one life was lost. Not one!! I call that a miracle. Bravo and encore to all involved.

Inconsistent, contradictory and patronising. No, it's not Swindon Borough
Council's new mission statement, but it's apparent application of the
